Tom Dowd passed away on October 27th, 2002 in Aventura, Florida, due to emphysema. Even Spanish singer Miguel Rios used Tom Dowd as his producer for one of his albums, El año del cometa. To me, the best album featuring Tom Dowd is Derek & The Dominos´ Layla and other assorted love songs, but we can find him producing great albums by Cream Rod Stewart, Allman Brothers Band, Freddie King, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Dusty Springfield, also jazz artists (usually for producer Nesuhi Ertegun) such as Charlie Mingus, John Coltrane, Herbie Mann, David ´Fathead´ Newman. After working in the physics discipline, he started a new job in a recording studio in the 40s, especially for Atlantic label, later working as producer for many of the artists.
Tom Dowd was born on October 20th, 1925 in Manhattan, New York. I just include here some of the ones I know, trying to complete the page along the weeks. Great producer, Tom Dowd´s name appear in hundreds of albums.
